Diagnostics for Invasive Fungal Infection
Myconostica, established in 2006 around Professor David Denning’s work at the University of Manchester Medical School, develops, manufactures, and markets novel and proprietary real-time PCR test kits for the accurate and rapid diagnosis of life-threatening invasive fungal infections. These infections are becoming increasingly prevalent on the back of increases in the population of immuno-compromised patients such as those with AIDS, leukaemia, and transplant recipients on immuno-suppressant therapy.
In May 2008, Myconostica received a series C round of £5.4m, including £1m from the UMIP Premier Fund, managed by MTI.
Dr. David Holbrook led the investment and sits on the board of the company.
