Dr. David Holbrook is a General Partner and leads MTI’s healthcare practice. He joined the firm in September 2003.
David qualified as a physician in 1983 and after gaining valuable experience practicing medicine in a UK hospital, he joined management consultants LEK, working in London and Boston, prior to spending seven years in the Global Business Development and Licensing division of pharmaceutical giant Glaxo Wellcome. He then moved to Roche as director for new product planning and business development in the UK. Subsequently he became Chief Executive of London’s prestigious Imperial College spin-out operations for four years whilst also raising and co-managing the college’s seed fund.
Immediately prior to joining MTI, David was on the board of Onyvax Limited, a VC-backed cancer vaccines company.
David led the first investment from the University of Manchester Fund (the UPF), into molecular diagnostics company Myconostica, based in Sharston, South Manchester. David is currently chairman on the board of Myconostica.
As well as speaking at conferences and working with healthcare institutions and bodies, David was chosen to be a Director at the Finsbury Worldwide Pharmaceutical Trust plc in January 2008.
David also has an MA from Oxford University and an MBA from Harvard University.
